About EEF

EEF--the shine on the apple Who we are. Who we serve. What we do.

Who We Are

The Education Enrichment Foundation was organized in 1987 to improve the quality of public education in Greenwood County. We believe that a community's public schools are vital to its well-being and economic development. To that end, we promote and support enrichment for excellence in education. Specifically, we seek to encourage teachers, to enable enrichment activities beyond what tax-supported budgets can provide, and to enlist community involvement.

Who We Serve

EEF serves the three public school districts of Greenwood County, which include Greenwood, Ware Shoals, and Ninety Six. We also work in collaboration with other community organizations on projects that affect the educational process.

What We Do

The Education Enrichment Foundation offers a variety of effective programs, including:

     ·  Great Idea Grants. Each year, teachers in Districts 50, 51, and 52 are invited to compete for small grants, ranging from a few hundred dollars for a single classroom grant up to $1200 for school-wide activities. Grant proposals are evaluated by a panel of judges who give points for criteria such as innovation and educational value (i.e., links to State standards).

In The Spotlight 2005 LogoSince 1987, the Education Enrichment Foundation has awarded over $330,000 in Great Idea Grants. In the most recent school year, we awarded $20,665 to 53 teachers in 16 different schools, reaching more than 4,900 students.

     ·  In The Spotlight.  This annual event is a showcase of the visual and performing arts talent of Greenwood County's public school students. Both the gallery exhibit and the stage show present important opportunities for the community to come together and celebrate some of outstanding positive results our public schools are achieving in the related arts.

     ·   Sponsorship.  EEF funds are used to support a variety of enrichment endeavors in collaboration with other organization. For example, we join with Greenwood District 50 on the Academic Challenge Bowl Competition for middle school students. We work with the Arts Council to bring The Artist in Residency Program to Greenwood County schools.

The Future

These are crucial times for our public schools. We need the financial support of the Greenwood community to enable us to make a difference in the quality of public education. Won't you help us?
