Fourth Generation Programming Languages & Techniques

CyberSmart writes a wide range of applications for Windows 95/98/ME/NT using a variety of programming languages and design environments.  Generally, applications that require a sophisticated user-interface or require rapid deployment are written in MS Visual Basic.  Other applications requiring  hardware programming or a great deal of "number crunching" are written in MS Visual C++.  Applications requiring a combination of these features will likely have the main executable / user-interface written in VB with the more basic functions being processed by "helper" DLL's (dynamic link library) written in C or C++.

Design Philosophy

We at CyberSmart always try to start the development process with a well conceived, object-oriented design.  The focus of the high level design is to achieve the following objectives (in order):

1. Extensible code through a design layout that allows for the addition of new functions to existing classes or new class objects altogether.
2. Maintainable code (either by a single programmer or a development team) through class encapsulation allowing the maintenance programmer to fix one piece of the application with having to understand the entire project.
3. Self documenting code through appropriate class names and separation of responsibilities (this is not an excuse for neglecting traditional documentation as well).
